Professional Moving Company in Western Canada

Best Moves has been moving people since 2016 — first across Calgary, now across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. We run our own fleet of trucks and professional moving crews, with most long-distance shipments travelling on a dedicated truck rather than being combined with other customers’ loads or sitting in a warehouse waiting for a truck to fill up.

Every long-distance move gets a dedicated moving coordinator who confirms your pickup and delivery dates upfront and stays your point of contact from booking to unloading. If your move needs packing, temporary storage, or special handling for heavy or oversized items, we build that into the plan before the truck is booked — not after.

      Moving Services
      Across Western Canada

Fast, on-time & safe long-distance moves. Popular destinations include Edmonton, Kelowna, and Vancouver. We provide guaranteed delivery dates and clear communication from start to finish.

We schedule commercial relocations around your business hours, property access, and building requirements to minimize downtime and get your team back up and running quickly.

Our long-distance moving crews handle relocations between Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, with direct transportation from pickup to delivery.

Moving into a new house, apartment, or condo? We load, transport, and unload your belongings with the same crew looking after your move from start to finish.

Full or partial packing, using materials matched to what you’re moving: dish packs for kitchens, wardrobe boxes for closets, and foam wrap for electronics.

Extra time, patience, and care for seniors who are downsizing, relocating, or moving into a senior living residence, including help sorting what to bring.

Need to move a few pieces rather than a full household? We can disassemble, wrap, transport, and reassemble your furniture as needed.

Need somewhere to keep your belongings between homes? We can arrange secure, climate-controlled storage for short- or longer-term needs.

When plans change quickly, we’ll check current crew and truck availability and give you a clear answer about what we can realistically arrange.

How We Calculate Your Long-Distance Moving Quote

No two moves are exactly the same. The final cost of our moving services across Canada depends on the size of your move, the route, the moving date, access at both properties, and any additional services you need:

      1. Size of the Load — the amount of furniture, boxes, appliances, and other belongings you’re moving, including any oversized or unusually heavy pieces.
      2. Destination & Distance — where we’re picking up, where we’re delivering, and any route-specific logistics such as ferry travel or overnight transportation.
      3. Moving Date — your preferred pickup and delivery dates, along with crew and truck availability.
      4. Accessibility — stairs, elevators, long carries, parking restrictions, or limited truck access at either address.
      5. Additional Services — packing and unpacking, furniture disassembly and assembly, crating, temporary storage, heavy-item handling (exercise equipment, upright pianos, etc.), and other services required in addition to transportation.

Here’s how it works in practice: we usually ask for photos or a short video walkthrough so we can see the inventory and access conditions before preparing the estimate. From there, we determine the crew size, truck, equipment, and estimated labour your move will require. If something needs a closer look, we may arrange an on-site estimate.

For long-distance moves, the route and transportation are factored into the quote separately from the estimated labour. That makes it easier to see how your price is built and helps us plan the move properly before moving day.

Some belongings or access conditions need extra planning, including antiques and artwork, oversized or very heavy items, furniture that requires disassembly, pieces that may not fit in an elevator, glass or stone items, and homes without direct loading access. Let us know about these upfront so we can account for them in the estimate.

Specialty items: grand pianos, hot tubs, pool tables, and certain commercial equipment may require a specialist. If your move includes one of these, let us know in advance and we’ll confirm what we can handle.

Why Choose Best Moves for Long-Distance Moving

Choosing a long-distance moving company in Canada comes down to more than price. How your belongings are transported, whether your dates are guaranteed, and how closely the final bill matches the estimate all matter. Here’s what sets Best Moves apart:

      01. Upfront, Written Estimates

Every move starts with a written estimate based on your inventory, route, moving date, access, and any additional services. For long-distance moves, the transportation portion is fixed, while labour and materials are typically estimated based on the work required.

Because the transportation portion is fixed upfront and typically represents a large part of a long-distance move, the final bill usually lands within about 5–10% of the estimated amount, assuming the inventory, access, and scope stay reasonably close to what was quoted.

      02. Guaranteed Pickup & Delivery Dates

Your pickup and delivery dates are confirmed in advance, giving you something concrete to plan around instead of an open-ended delivery window. Most long-distance moves are completed within 1–4 days, depending on the route and size of the move.

      03. Direct Transportation, Fewer Handoffs

Your belongings travel directly from pickup to delivery without unnecessary transfers between trucks or warehouses. Most long-distance moves are handled on dedicated trucks, depending on the shipment size and route.

      04. Trained, Equipped Crews

Our crews receive regular training and arrive with the equipment needed to protect furniture, handle heavy items, and complete common disassembly and reassembly. The goal is simple: send a crew that’s prepared for the move before they arrive at your door.

      05. One Moving Coordinator

You’ll have one point of contact from booking through delivery. Your coordinator helps confirm timing, move details, and any changes along the way.

      06. Packing & Storage When You Need It

Choose full or partial packing, and add temporary storage when possession dates, renovations, or other timing issues leave a gap between pickup and delivery.

      07.Proven Reputation

Best Moves is a Canadian Association of Movers member, BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, and backed by 2,000+ five-star reviews, along with multiple Top Choice Awards and a 2026 Consumer Choice Award.

Frequently Asked Questions About Long-Distance Moving in Canada

Planning a long-distance move? Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most about pricing, timing, delivery, packing and moving across Western Canada.

      1. How much do long-distance movers in Canada cost?
There isn’t one flat price for a long-distance move. Cost depends on the route, how much you’re moving, access at both properties, your moving date and any extra services you need. For long-distance moves with Best Moves, the transportation portion of the quote is fixed, while labour and materials are typically estimated.
      2. How accurate is my moving estimate?
When the inventory, access and scope of the move stay close to what was quoted, the final bill usually comes in within about 5–10% of the estimate. For long-distance moves, we normally ask for photos, a video walkthrough, or an on-site visit so we can see what’s being moved and plan the job properly before quoting it.
      3. How far in advance should I book a long-distance move?
A few weeks ahead is a good target, especially during summer and at the end of the month when moving schedules fill up faster. If your move is coming up sooner, it’s still worth asking — we can often accommodate short-notice moves when a crew and truck are available.
      4. How long does a long-distance move take?
Most long-distance moves we handle across Western Canada are completed within 1–4 days, depending on the route and size of the move. Longer routes, ferry crossings, weather, and required rest stops can affect timing, but your pickup and delivery dates are confirmed in advance.
      5. Are pickup and delivery dates guaranteed?
Yes. For long-distance moves, we confirm your pickup and delivery dates before the move so you have a clear schedule to plan around rather than an open-ended delivery window.
      6. Will my belongings be transferred between trucks?
We use direct transportation and avoid unnecessary transfers between trucks or warehouses. Most long-distance moves are handled on dedicated trucks, although smaller shipments may occasionally share truck space depending on the route and size of the move.
      7. Which provinces does Best Moves serve?
Our long-distance moving service is focused on Western Canada, including Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Our main markets include Calgary, Vancouver, and Nanaimo, along with interprovincial routes between communities across those provinces. We do not currently offer regular long-distance service to Eastern Canada.
      8. Do you offer packing and storage for long-distance moves?
Yes. We offer full or partial packing and can arrange temporary storage when there’s a gap between pickup and delivery, such as during a renovation or between possession dates. Packing, storage, and any special handling can be included in your estimate before the move is booked.
      9. When is payment due, and what payment methods do you accept?
A 10% deposit is required to secure your moving dates and is applied toward the total cost of your move. The remaining balance is due when the move is complete. Deposits can be paid by e-transfer or credit card. Final payment is not accepted by e-transfer, but we accept debit and credit cards, including secure credit-card payment links when needed. A 3% processing fee applies to all credit-card payments.
      10. Do you charge travel time?
Yes. In addition to the time spent actually moving your belongings, we charge a one-time travel time fee. Travel time covers the driving between our dispatch office and your pick-up address, and from your drop-off address back to our dispatch office.
      11. How does Best Moves Calgary ensure my belongings’ safety on moving day?
Our crews use moving blankets, floor runners, dollies, and proper tools to protect your furniture and home. When needed, we can remove or cover doors and handrails to prevent damage and make tight spots safer. We also have mattress bags, TV and picture boxes available for extra protection, so your items are moved as safely and securely as possible.
